The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has officially fixed its 40th Convocation Ceremony. The series of events will stretch over ten days, from Friday, 17th October to Sunday, 26th October 2025, all hosted at the main campus.

This year’s ceremony is more than a roll call of degrees, it is a gathering of faith, culture, and academic pride. Certificates, prizes, and higher honours will be awarded across various faculties.

Interdenominational Service at Chapel of the Light, 9:00 a.m.
Monday, 20th October 2025
- Vice-Chancellor’s Press Briefing and Media Chat, 10:00 a.m.
- Rehearsals for logistics, 3:00 p.m.

Tuesday, 21st October 2025
Convocation Play – Joromi by Steve James, choreographed by Felix Akinsipe.
Time: 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Venue: Performing and Film Arts Theatre
Wednesday, 22nd October 2025
- Convocation Lecture at 9:00 a.m. by Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN, CON.
  Topic: The Gen-Z Playbook: Navigating Work and the Real World
- Cocktail at 12:30 p.m., Multipurpose Hall.
- Convocation Day I: Graduation for 4-year programmes and diplomas. Faculties include Arts, Basic Medical Sciences, Education, Life Sciences, Social Sciences, and more.
Thursday, 23rd October 2025
- Convocation Day II: Graduation for 5- and 6-year programmes, plus postgraduate awards.
- Commissioning of Projects by the Visitor at 1:30 p.m.
- Convocation Luncheon and Staff Merit Awards at 4:00 p.m.

Friday, 24th October 2025
Special Jum’at Service at the Central Mosque, 1:30 p.m.

Key Notes For Graduands

The university has laid down clear instructions. Some may sound strict, but they are there to keep order.

Important Dates

The 2024/2025 Academic Session began on 14th December 2024 and ended 15th September 2025.
Graduands from this session should confirm their names on the UNILORIN website.

Mandatory Payments

Undergraduates: ₦20,000 for transcript and certificate, plus charges for gown hire, muffler, order of proceedings, ID card (NYSC), T-shirt, and administration.
Postgraduates (Master’s and others): Same ₦20,000 base, plus gown hire and extras.
Ph.D. Graduands: ₦10,000 for certificate, plus compulsory purchase of gown from the Technical Entrepreneurship Centre.

All payments must be made via the UNILORIN Convocation Portal using Master or Visa cards.

Academic Procession And Dress Code

Attendance at rehearsals on 20th October, 3:00 p.m., is compulsory.
Only approved academic gowns and full formal outfits (English wear or national dress) are accepted.
Hired gowns must be returned by 27th October 2025, failure attracts a ₦5,000 fine per day.

Graduands must fill and save the University of Ilorin Alumni Association Google Form, downloadable from the school website. Evidence of compliance.
