Police have arrested a female teacher at Golden Olive Academy in Maiduguri, Borno state, on charges that she sexually assaulted a 4-year-old primary student.
The Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sani Kamilu Shatambaya, confirmed the arrest on Saturday, November 25, 2022. He said that a thorough and unbiased investigation is still going on, and that the case will be sent to court later.
Hassan Dala, the father of the victim, said that the teacher would hide his daughter behind her hijab and touch her with her finger. He also said that the child started to complain about pain in her private area, but her mother at first didn’t pay attention to it and thought it was nothing unusual.
But when the child kept complaining, the mother saw blood in the child’s urine. She took the child to a private clinic in Bulumkutu called Miyetti Clinic, where a doctor told her to find out what happened. An investigation at Umaru Shehu Hospital showed that the child had been pushed into his or her private area.
The school’s teachers were lined up, and the student who had been abused pointed to the one who did it.
