Subject Requirements for Different Courses

B. Agric. Programmes

  • Programmes: Agricultural Economics, Rural Sociology and Extension, Agronomy, Soil Science and Meteorology
  • O’Level Subject Requirement: Five O’ Level credit passes in not more than two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agric. Science, and any other Science subject.
  • Special Consideration Waiver Requirement: A credit in Agric. Science must be accompanied by at least a pass in Biology.

Computer Science

  • Programme: Computer Science
  • O’Level Subject Requirement: Five O’ Level credit passes in not more than two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and any other relevant Science subject.
  • Special Consideration Waiver Requirement: None

Education Courses

  • Programmes: Chemistry Education, Physics Education, Mathematics Education
  • O’Level Subject Requirement: Five O’ Level credit passes in not more than two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry, and any other relevant subject.
  • Special Consideration Waiver Requirement: A credit in Agric. Science must be supported by at least a pass in Biology.

Biology Education

  • Programme: Biology Education
  • O’Level Subject Requirement: Five O’ Level credit passes in not more than two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.
  • Special Consideration Waiver Requirement: None

Integrated Science Education

  • Programme: Integrated Science Education
  • O’Level Subject Requirement: Five O’ Level credit passes in not more than two sittings to include English Language, Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Special Consideration Waiver Requirement: None

Agriculture Education

  • Programme: Agriculture Education
  • O’Level Subject Requirement: Five O’ Level credit passes in not more than two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, and any other relevant subject.
  • Special Consideration Waiver Requirement: A credit in Agric. Science must be accompanied by at least a pass in Biology.

Computer Science Education

  • Programme: Computer Science Education
  • O’Level Subject Requirement: Five O’ Level credit passes in not more than two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and any other relevant subject.
  • Special Consideration Waiver Requirement: None

Home Economics Education

  • Programme: Home Economics Education
  • O’Level Subject Requirement: Five O’ Level credit passes in not more than two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, and one of Physics, Clothing & Textile, Food and Nutrition, Home Management.
  • Special Consideration Waiver Requirement: A credit in Agric. Science must be backed up with at least a pass in Biology.

Entrepreneurial Studies

  • Programme: Entrepreneurial Studies
  • O’Level Subject Requirement: Five ‘O’ Level Credit Passes in not more than two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any other two Subjects.
  • Special Consideration Waiver Requirement: None

Industrial Relations and Personnel Management (Human Resources)

  • Programme: Industrial Relations and Personnel Management
  • O’Level Subject Requirement: Five ‘O’ Level Credit Passes in not more than two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any two Subjects from Government/History, Commerce, Principles of Accounting, Geography, C.R.K., Agricultural Science, Biology, Literature English, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba.
  • Special Consideration Waiver Requirement: None

Library and Information Science

  • Programme: Library and Information Science
  • O’Level Subject Requirement: Five ‘O’ Level Credit Passes in not more than two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any other two Subjects.
  • Special Consideration Waiver Requirement: None

Direct Entry Admission Criteria

Applicants seeking direct entry admission must possess a combination of O’Level results along with a minimum of two A-Level passes or an NCE, OND, or HND in relevant fields like Agricultural Sciences, Sciences, Science Education, Geography, and so forth.

How Long Will You Study?

For students holding specific qualifications, the programme durations are as follows:

  • For Candidates with OND/ND at Upper Credit Level or NCE at Distinction: A minimum of five years of study is required.
  • For those with HND at Lower Credit Level: The minimum duration is five years.
  • For Candidates with HND at Upper Credit Level: A minimum of four years is the duration of the programme.
  • For Candidates with a B.Sc. in related fields: A minimum of three years of study is necessary.
