YSU Academic Calendar 2023/2024 for Second Semester
Yobe State University (YSU), wishes is to notify all the students and staffs of the management has released the adjusted Academic calendar for the second semester 2023/2024 session. The extension aims to provide ample time for lecturers to cover lectures and administer continuous assessments.
The managements of the Yobe State University (YSU), has brought to the notice of the students and staffs of the institution that they will be two-week extension for Level one and two examinations for the 2023/2024 academic session. The extension is aimed at giving lecturers ample time to cover their lectures and administer continuous assessment tests. This decision has led to adjustments in the academic calendar as detailed below.
In light of the adjustments, students and faculty members are encouraged to review the revised calendar for a smooth and successful academic experience.
The second semester is scheduled to resume on 24th June, 2024. Second Semester examinations will commence on 2nd September, 2024.
YSU Academic Calendar
Commencement of Semester
- Start Date: June 24, 2024
- The semester kicks off with the ETTC meeting and the approval of the academic timetable, all set for the very first day of the semester.
Lectures Schedule
- Duration: 10 Weeks (June 24, 2024 – August 31, 2024)
- Lectures will commence immediately following the ETTC meeting and will run for a continuous ten-week period. This phase is crucial for course completion and exam preparation.
Examination Period
- Duration: 4 Weeks (September 2, 2024 – September 28, 2024)
- Following the lectures, the second semester examinations will take place over four weeks, testing students on their academic engagement throughout the semester.
Marking and Results Processing
- Marking Period: 3 Weeks (September 30, 2024 – October 19, 2024)
- After exams, lecturers will mark scripts and prepare results over a three-week period.
- External Examination and Moderation: 5 Weeks (October 21, 2024 – November 23, 2024)
- External moderation and consideration of results will then take place at the departmental, GST, college/faculty, and Senate levels.
Future Planning
- Resumption Date for 2024/2025: To be determined
- The start date for the 2024/2025 academic session will be announced later, allowing students and staff to plan accordingly.

- All public holidays announced during these dates will be observed, ensuring that no academic activities take place on these days.
