Director of Information and Communications Technology for the National Youth Service Corps, Christy Uba, has been named acting Director-General.
She is the first woman to be put in charge of the NYSC since it began almost fifty years ago.
The National Youth Service Corps’ Director of Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, said in a statement on Tuesday that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret. ), had fired Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah from his position as DG.
The statement says that Mrs. Uba will be in charge of NYSC until a permanent Director General is chosen.
Megwa said, “Until Mr. President chooses a permanent Director General, the scheme’s most senior director has taken charge of the corps in the role of overseer.“
