An application letter is a must when you’re applying for a job. It is a letter used in applying for a job as it helps you talk more about why you’re the right fit for the position and why you want it.
It also tells the employer your achievement(s) and how you can replicate the same achievement in the firm if considered for the job.
In fact, an application letter allows you to sell yourself to an employer, making him see what he stands to gain should he employ you.
The major idea behind application letters is to enable you to seduce your would-be boss to see you as the best candidate. However, we have to be careful with our choice of words so we don’t brag instead of selling our skills.
How to write an application letter for a Job
1. Research the company and job opening
Look for details like:
- Recent achievement of the company
- Major accomplishments
- Specialized certifications
- The population of the company
- The company ethnics
- The company’s project
- The name and title for the hiring manager
Start your letter with an official salutation, such as “Dear X,” and address the hiring manager by name whenever possible.
3. State the position you’re applying for
Do this, however if you were referred by someone at the company, be sure to include their name and position
Provide clear details regarding your experience, skills, education or certifications.
5. Summarize your qualifications
Mention that you look forward to the next steps in the hiring process and conclude with “Sincerely,” as a closing.
