The Admissions and Matriculation Board and the country’s three higher education regulators – the National Universities Commission, the National Technical Education Council and the National Education Commission – said they would sanction establishments selling enrollment applications in 2022/2023.
According to our sources, this measure is intended to reduce the irregular enrollment rate of universities.
The 2022/2023 admissions process begins in August 2022, with JAMB setting a deadline of December 31, 2022.
While some schools have yet to begin the admissions process, JAMB said it will penalize establishments that sell applications to individuals.
The Board requires that all applications be processed using a central admissions processing system.
In a document titled “Sequence of Rules for the 2022 Admissions Process”, the council emphasized that it is working with three governing bodies for higher education institutions. “All applications for admission to Nigeria’s First Degree, National Diploma, National Diploma in Innovation and Certificate of Education programs include full-time, distance, part-time, continuing outreach, sandwiches, etc., are handled by JAMB only.”
